Join the ACGC Staff

Volunteers and GMs make the ACGC experience. Some people want to support the con at an even greater level. We would love to expand our core leadership team. Take a look at the roles we are interested in filling for ACGC 2025. You can get an overview of any role by clicking the title. Director - Andrew Hartwell
Lay out the overarching vision and plan for the game con
With help of team, recruit and assign team members to roles
Schedule and facilitate team meetings
The buck stops here. All the bucks.

Producer - Kevin Thurber
Does a ton of work
Creates and manages website
Creates promo materials
Sometimes gets thanked, puts up with Andrew, tells Andrew he is doing a great job, etc.
Helps nudge team members in completing agreed-upon tasks

Registrar - open
Develops or revises/updates registration plan in conversation with Director/Team
Ensures that we have all materials necessary for registration – badges, lanyards, Square Pay etc
Creates and produces forms as needed to schedule volunteers for reg table and associated duties
* Previous two years, has filled Merchandise Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator roles

Merchandise Coordinator - open
Develops or revises/updates product list with pricing for all ACGC themed items
Develops or revises/updates product list with pricing for all snack items
Makes sure we have a clear schedule for selling all merchandise
Signs up volunteers for shifts
Ensures that all required training exists in writing and is delivered to each volunteer effectively

Connections Lead - Kyle Mitchell
Our primary liaison with outside groups, especially once they have demonstrated interest
Guide vendors and sponsors through the process from interest to paying for a booth
Support vendors as they prepare and work at the con
Work with other game cons to coordinate prizes, libraries, any other goodies
Work with other groups to be present at ACGC, ie Austin protospiel group

Communications Lead - open
Develops (or updates/revises) a detailed communication plan in conversation with Director/Team
The plan involves schedule of when each kind of message goes out, ideal authors for each, etc
Communications will include: social media posts, email updates, post-con survey

Board Games Lead - John Ostrom
Working with the Director and Team, develop/revise the overall vision and plan for board games
Review policies about GM discounted and free badges, bring proposed changes to Director/Team
Consider all possible games in this genre to help us provide a wide variety of game offerings
Create a list of contacts who could bring more/various games, and especially GMs to the con
Reach out to all contacts. Encourage and guide them to find the best ways to engage with ACGC
Interact with all prospective GMs from first contact until the con
Oversee scheduling of all games – both time slots and table assignments

Check in with GMs at the con to address needs and evaluate/enhance their experience

Game Library Coordinator - open
Oversees the Game Library and Play to Win event
Makes sure that the correct lists are available for PtW and game checkout
Makes sure that box for keeping licenses is present
Provides necessary communication with volunteers assigned to each shift

CCGs/Cards Lead - Juan Escobedo
In conversation with the Director and Team, develop/revise the overall vision and plan for card games
Review policies about GM discounted and free badges, bring proposed changes to Director/Team
Consider all possible games in this genre to help us provide a wide variety of game offerings
Create a list of contacts who could bring more/various games, and especially GMs to the con
Reach out to all contacts. Encourage and guide them to find the best ways to engage with ACGC
Interact with all prospective GMs from first contact until the con
Oversee scheduling of all games – both time slots and table assignments
Check in with GMs at the con to address needs and evaluate/enhance their experience

Miniatures Lead - Blake Radetsky
In conversation with the Director and Team, develop/revise the overall vision and plan for miniatures
Review policies about GM discounted and free badges, bring proposed changes to Director/Team
Consider all possible games in this genre to help us provide a wide variety of game offerings
Create a list of contacts who could bring more/various games, and especially GMs to the con

RPG Lead - open
In conversation with the Director and Team, develop/revise the overall vision and plan for RPGs

Social (Deduction) Games Lead - (effectively Cen Tex Werewolves?)
Working with the Director and Team, develop/revise the overall vision and plan for social games
Review policies about GM discounted and free badges, bring proposed changes to Director/Team
Consider all possible games in this genre to help us provide a wide variety of game offerings
Create a list of contacts who could bring more/various games, and especially GMs to the con
Reach out to all contacts. Encourage and guide them to find the best ways to engage with ACGC
Interact with all prospective GMs from first contact until the con
Oversee scheduling of all games – both time slots and table assignments

Check in with GMs at the con to address needs and evaluate/enhance their experience

Special Events Lead - open
Takes the lead on everything “extra,” both established activities and new ones
Current events – check in on leaders of Splendor and Catan tournaments, assist with any set-up needs
Current events – coordinate with the people who do our painting sessions
New Events – We have generated so many ideas – poker tourney, escape room activity, themes, etc
New Events – Anything we imagine that the Director/team approves, and we are able to pull off

Volunteer Coordinator - Kelly Gunaji
With guidance from registrar/team, creates schedule for each volunteer position
Assigns volunteers to specific time blocks for each station as needed, communicates schedule to each
Serves as key contact person for all assigned volunteers during the con

Logistics Coordinator - open
In charge of getting the game library to and from the game con
Working with registrar to make sure that room signage is in place correctly
Working with registrar to make sure our square and internet hotspots are in place and ready to use
Overseeing all tabletop signs
Making sure all equipment required by vendors is in place
